Hi friends, my name is Joud Al Sinani and I'm 18 years old. I'm a self-taught omani artist and I use art as a method of expression and escape. I became extremely interested in art during the summer of 2018 and ever since it became something I'm really passionate about. Creating art is something that I enjoy doing as well as experiencing different mediums. 

 

- Your art journey?  

Growing up, I wasn't a huge art enthusiast but I tried it out for fun and for my own enjoyment, it developed into something that I take the time to do more frequently in the past three years. My parents always pushed me to create art and explore the hobby deeply and I fell in love with every aspect of it, and art will continue to be a journey that I will pursue in the future, in terms of studying it.

 

- How you started the business: 

- The name of my business is dirwazah, and they are basically ceramics with a touch of my art style, they are used as home decoration, plant pots, mabkhar and a lot more. I always wanted to portray my art and individuality in a modern way, and as something that could be consumed and used by people. Dirwazah seemed to be the perfect match to what I had in mind, my family and friends loved the idea and supported me through it all so it was very easy for me to get it all started. 

  

- Experience of a business during a pandemic:

- With covid 19 and quarantine, it got very emotionally draining and dirwazah was the perfect distraction from all the stress and the loneliness of quarantine. In the beginning it was very difficult to get started with the business because of the lack of materials, but thankfully I made it work. With the push from my parents and their help I managed to start the business successfully, of course by taking all the safety precautions to be safe from the virus. Overall, it was a great experience and it taught me how to be responsible and manage my time efficiently.
