Faisal Al Abri

@al_abri05

My name is Faisal Al Abri, I'm 15 years old, today I'll be taking over 2000 magazine's story. My interest in basketball started around 2014, before that I played ice hockey. I was 4 years old when I first started to learn the fundamentals of ice hockey. In 2017 I was nominated for the Oman National Junior Ice Hockey team, but I decided to focus on basketball.

As I progressed to prioritize basketball I was chosen to represent my schools -The Sultan's School- basketball team. In 2015, I decided to join The National Basketball Academy of Oman (TNBA) to improve my skills in the sport with the American coach Randy Motilalsingh. After years of training and improvement, I came across Seeb Club which is one of the best clubs in Oman amongst various sports. I reached out to the Coach and he accepted me in the team after a few training sessions.

We won the annual Under-14 Oman Basketball Championship. During the games, members of the Oman Basketball Association watched and observed the best players, to pick for the Oman Under-16 Basketball National Team. A few weeks later I got the news That I was one of the chosen ones to represent my country in Basketball. Coach Randy got me and another two of his players, featured in The Times of Oman newspaper.

During this pandemic I'm trying my best to stay in shape for the upcoming season, I attend online training sessions with The National Basketball Academy 4 times a week. Besides that I also focus on working out on my own at home to make sure I have a schedule for each day focusing on specific skills.

I would like to thank my family, friends and Coaches for helping me achieve the success I'm in. I appreciate the opportunity 2000 magazine has given me to show my talent and success.
