Hello, I’m Alwaleed Alamri a 19 year old  Omani artist,

 

-How did you get started with art? Who/what was your inspiration?

I started painting and drawing from a very young age. Being half Dhofari half Balushi exposed me to two different cultures. I've always been fascinated by how rich and diverse Omani culture is and it’s always been my inspiration.

I try to showcase our heritage in a more modern way through art

 

I’ve always had the support and help of my family, my parents are one of the reasons I love art this much now, they used to get me art supplies when I was a child and teach me how to use them, their admiration for my paintings gives me the push I need to continue!

 

-What other creative hobbies do you have?

I always find something new I want to try, if I’m not painting and drawing then I’m either cooking, baking or taking photographs

 

-What businesses did you have in the past & when did you get started? and what businesses do you currently have? 

I started my first business when I was 13, I designed logos and business cards and then it evolved to birthday themes and so on. I’ve owned multiple businesses after that, I printed my designs on T-shirts and phone cases, had a badge (pins) business, I made Snapchat filters and stickers and so on.

I currently own a coffee and dessert business and I’m hoping that in the future I’ll be able to turn it into a coffee shop!!

 

-Whatever you feel telling our audience

I’m amazed and happy that the art community is growing in Oman and more of our youth are starting to show their talents. It’s now easier to get opportunities even if it feels hard, I hope and wish that this growth continues and more art galleries and shows start to emerge, thank you for this opportunity and I wish you all continuous success!!
